  2. Text 3 • Marcus war Hausvater. Seiner Hausgewalt unterworfen waren seine Frau Iulia und die Söhne: Titius, Lucius und Verus. Titius hatte eine Tochter und einen Sohn mit Sibilla, seiner Frau sine manu. Lucius hatte zwei Söhne und Verus war kinderlos. Eines Sommers ist Lucius unglücklich vom Pferd gefallen und ums Leben gekommen. Einen Monat später ist Marcus wegen Kummer um sein totes Kind gestorben. Als Verus vom Tod seines Vaters erfuhr, verlor er den Verstand und musste seither unter der Pflegschaft seines Bruders Titius leben. Nach dem Tod von Marcus hat die Familie sein Testament gefunden, indem Marcus anwies seinen treusten Sklaven Stichus freizulassen.
