  2. CHP was founded in 1923 by M.K. Atatürk and his friends (the founder of Turkish Republic-1923)

  3. After the foundation ofthe Republic and CHP,there wasarevolutionary improvement in Women’s rights. *With the adoption of Civil Law in 1926, official marriage was obliged, divorce was made equal to men and women and women had equal inheritage with men. *Women were given the right to elect and be elected …; first, on 3rd April 1930, at Municipalities, *on 26 Oct.1933 as the Headpersonin villages and members of executive boards. *And finally, on 5th December,1934 in the Parliament.

  4. CHP Women’s Branch political organization first started in 1955. • The first women general congress was held in 1962. We started this work with the 11th general congress on 8th July,2012. Our Central Executive Board consists of 14 women plus the president. We have 280 000 women members and 5000 women party managers in Turkey

Our Aims ; • To increase the number of the women members and the supporters of CHP from all parts of Turkey • To provide the expansion of the statues of our party, the program,election report and the resolutions of CHP Assemblythroughout Turkey • To realize equal representation and participation of women in our Political life and social life • To empower women contribution to the decisions made. In other words, planning to have more women in decision making positions.

To fight against the barriers that impedes women taking part in politics. • To apply gender equality in all parts of social life . • To fight to stop violence against women. • To support women in taking part in every aspect of life as equal beings. We have been working hard to achieve these aims.

  7. TARGET:to win the local and national elections 2013………………………………...2014-2015 winning elections is bound to WOMEN

What we have been doing… • Having Regional and Coordination meetings all over Turkey • Paying visits where the population of women is high (like bazaars, fields, ). • Getting together with Women NGOs and Women groups. • Joining National and International meetings on women issues. • Prepearing various projects and Campaings

  9. 7 Regions in 7 Months

  10. Regions in 7 Months; • We have alredy paid visits and held meetings in the 7 regions of Turkey.This project will be completed in • April 2013. • We are every where, where women are. Like factories, fields, homes, streets with the local CHP women Organizations. Our aim is to detect the local problems that women face with and to develop local Women Policies accordingly. • Besides, we also aim to contribute to General Policies of CHP.

  11. We have also started a campaign called ‘Butterflies are free (to fly)’ to stop violence against women.
