Present Day Bedouins • The modern day Bedouin tribal units sometimes have names from the early Islamic era and may be related to them. • However, they are tribal units, which originate in recent centuries. • Currently, many Bedouins posses their old nomadic way of life. • The modern era contains a variety of new jobs, but many still connect with desert life. • Others have entered jobs associated with modern economics because of the spread of education, but still connect with their culture and history.
Bedouin Tents • The Bedouin tents are also referred to as Arabian desert tents. • The tents are woven from domesticated sheep and goat hair. • The design is believed to have originated in Mesopotamia.
Bedouin Lifestyle • Bedouins are nomads, also known as wanderers. • During winter Bedouins migrate deeper into the desert. • But for most Bedouins the prefer the city for most of the summer. • As a lifestyle for most tribes they settle in urban areas. • They take strong measures to regulate nomadic lifestyles.
