About us HELP is on a mission to empower Hong Kongs 380,000 Foreign Domestic Workers through advice, education and legal protection, helping them gain access to justice, and fair and equal treatment. Over the last 30 years we have helped over 100,000 workers, giving them a voice in a society that often doesn’t hear them. HELP for Domestic Workers
How will the money raised help? • *In Hong Kong Dollars • $150 - Cost of a warm welcome, a cup of tea & a session with one of our 3 case managers. • $500- Cost to train a volunteer, we currently have 100. • $1,000 – A ‘Know your rights’ session for 100 new workers. • $5,000 - Bring our learning program, ‘First Hand’ to the next generation of employees, one school at a time. • $10,000 - Keep our doors open for a day. 5 Simple steps to success Pick an idea - Check out our a-z of ideas. Plan your activity - The trick is to be prepared! Make a plan of action 3. Promote your fundraiser- The more people you tell, the better. Why not create a Fundraising page on Charitable Choice its free and your funds go directly to us? 4. Pay in your money - Once the fundraising is over, check out the final slide on how to pay it in. 5. Pat yourself on the back- All your hard work has paid off. Our favourite fundraising ideas • Auction of promises: Can you offer a special skill or service? Why not auction it off for a day to the highest bidder ie dog walking, personal training, beauty services. • Run or swim or cycle : If speed is your thing why not see if your office will sponsor you to do a run, trek or cycle challenge? • Fancy Dress: Make your work day fun & ask everyone to donate. • Quiz Night: Hold a quiz night and get everyone working their brains. • Office Olympics: See how sporty your colleagues are! Charge a fee for entering activities such as pencil javelin or chair racing. HELP for Domestic Workers

Publicize your event • Posters and flyers: On noticeboards, local shops, schools and churches. • What’s on guides: Local newsletters and websites usually have a section listing events. Contact the editor and ask to be included. • Social media: Promote your event on your favourite social media channels, making use of any materials you’ve prepared, such as video & photos. • Write a blog: Try Wordpress or Blogger for a free blog. If you’re training for a challenge event, you could do a series of posts about your progress. • Email signature: Change your work, school or personal email signature to include a link to your or HELP’s website, its a great way of spreading the word.
