  1. UP Breaking News Today live: ‘Why So Few Witnesses?’ SC Asks UP Govt UP breaking news today live is regarding the Lakhimpur Kheri incident that has shocked the entire nation. When hundreds of farmers attended the Lakhimpur Kheri march, the Supreme Court asked the Uttar Pradesh government why there are so few witnesses in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case. During a suo motu hearing on the case, the court made the observation.

Senior attorney Harish Salve, standing for the Uttar Pradesh government, informed the bench chaired by Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana that out of 68 witnesses, 30 have given testimonies and 23 claim to be eyewitnesses to the incident. The court further asserted that there were hundreds of farmers present at the event and inquired as to why there were only 23 eyewitnesses. Individuals have spotted the automobile and the people inside it, according to the state government's response. The court also requested a separate status report on the deaths of four persons in the event, including a local journalist, and scheduled a hearing for November 8.

  3. The court then advised the UP government that it is preferable to have first-hand knowledge if the eyewitness is more trustworthy than a spectator.
