St. Francis of Assisi Pope Francis1182 – 1226 1936-present • Admirer of nature • Servant to the poor and destitute. • Son of a rick cloth merchant, St. Francis gave it all up to live with the poor. • Lived among the lepers. • When Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio became pope on March 2013, he choose the name Pope Francis. • Known for his care for AIDS patients and people who are very sick. • Very humble man… takes public transport every day. • Chose to live in an apartment instead of the archbishop’s palace. • Cooks his own meals instead of having a cook. Simple man. • Challenges us to do the same.

Let’s listen to Sunday’s Gospel Lk 17:5-10 The apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith." The Lord replied, "If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you would say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.
Question: This Gospel story tells us that even a little bit of faithis enough to make amazing things happen. • How are you keeping your faith alive and growing? • What good things happen in your life because of your faith?
Church House Rules • Dah! No cell phones & texting. Consequence: If a catechist sees you using your cell phone, it will be taken away until the end of class. • Circle of Grace always applies: No touching, pushing, teasing or giving your Catechist/Aide a hard time. Consequence: Mrs. Alice will talk to you then call your parent • Respect one another’s ideas & thoughts Consequence: It will be a great year! • Lift one another up by encouraging and being supportive instead of by hurting words and actions. Consequence: It will be a fantastic year!!
