The Levitical Priesthood and the Law were abrogated because they were insufficient. The Priesthood of Jesus Christ is: superior, unchangeable, ever-enduring. THE SUPERIORITY OF THE WORK OF CHRIST All spiritual blessings are in Christ. — in His Sanctuary COMPARISON The sanctuary, services, sacrifices of the OLD could not take away sin The church of God which He purchased with His own blood. The sanctuary, services, sacrifices of the NEW provide forgiveness of sin ACCEPTABLE SERVICES TO GOD He is the Savior of the body. Lesson 9 En 4019 V 16 of 73

THE SUPERIORITY OF THE WORK OF CHRIST Jesus offered one sacrifice for sins forever. — in His Sacrifice COMPARISON OLD – could not take away sin – sacrifices offered continually For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sin. NEW – Christ’s one sacrifice for sin takes away sin forever - – sacrifices for sin no longer needed So Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many … for salvation. Lesson 9 En 4019 V 17 of 73

THE SUPERIORITY OF THE WORK OF CHRIST Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it. — in His Priestly Service COMPARISON OLD – sacrifices of many types of animals - offered continually And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. NEW – Christ appeared once in the most holy place (heaven) in the presence of God to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. Lesson 9 En 4019 V 18 of 73

THE SUPERIORITY OF THE WORK OF CHRIST — in the Priestly Service which He requires of priests today PERFECT ION Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. Let us go on to Every Christian is a priest in the Priesthood of Jesus Christ But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. Lesson 9 En 4019 V 19 of 73

THE SUPERIORITY OF THE WORK OF CHRIST - Now, the sacrifice of Christ, the new service of the Priests in the Priesthood of Jesus Christ and in the new / true sanctuary are the spiritual services. PERFECT ION Let us go on to The New Covenant demonstrates the higher, purer, and more perfect services of Christ: The all-sufficiency of the one offering of Christ to secure forgiveness for all mankind.   21. THE SUPERIORITY OF THE WAY OF CHRIST — Christ is superior in the WAY OF LIFE He teaches and provides for all mankind. Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope with-out wavering, for he who promised is faithful. Lesson 10 En 4019 V 21 of 73

  22. THE SUPERIORITY OF THE WAY OF CHRIST – FAITH and OBEDIENCE FAITH is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. But before faith came, we were … kept for the faith … that we might bejustified by faith… For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus ... And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, andheirs according to the promise. Was not Abraham our father justified by works … faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect … a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. FAITH + OBEDIENCE the ELDERS obtained a good testimony — WE understand ABEL - offered to God a more excellent sacrifice ENOCH - he pleased God But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. FAITH + OBEDIENCE SAMUEL - From child: servant of God, prophet, judge PROPHETS - “I have even sent to you all My servants, the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them.” - walls of Jericho fell down after circled for 7 days – subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the viol-ence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weak-ness were made strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies … Women received their dead raised to life again … obtain a better resurrection. THE SUPERIORITY OF THE WAY OF CHRIST – in HIS BLOOD of sprinkling – the blood of Jesus – His sacrifice for our sins – is a focus of this study – blood was shed and then sprinkled on mercy seat for atonement. • the High Priest took the blood of the sacrifice • into the Most Holy Place where was the Ark of • the Covenant, with the mercy seat – God’s • presence was there – blood sprinkled there. • Jesus, our High Priest took the blood of the • sacrifice (His own blood) into the Most Holy • Place (heaven) - God’s presence was there – • He sprinkled His blood there for our sins. THE SUPERIORITY OF THE WAY OF CHRIST – in HIS UNSHAKEABLE KINGDOM - The Kingdom of Jesus Christ is unshakeable – every Christian should be unshakeable in his love and faith and service. • Renew your spiritual vitality – do not become • disheartened – look what you have and look • at what you will receive if you remain faithful. • Be a part of the general assembly and church • of the firstborn with God, Christ, the Holy • Spirit, the holy angels and all the redeemed • of the earth with its attendant blessings. THE SUPERIORITY OF THE WAY OF CHRIST – in His Unchangeableness - God – the same: yesterday, today, tomorrow - God’s counsel – immutable – we have hope – God will do what He has promised – in the altar He provides for sacrificial service - The heart – out of the heart the mouth speaks - Singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things ... - …sacrifice of praise to God…the fruit of our lips – in His Blood of Sanctification - Sanctifies (makes holy, purifies) the sinner Lesson 13 En 4019 V 31 of 73

THE SUPERIORITY OF THE WAY OF CHRIST – in His continuing city – Cities of the world appear - disappear – God has built a city: Abraham and others were looking for this city– apparent, for after this life – His kingdom cannot be destoyed – His city continues forever– The people of God live there – in the Sacrifices He requires of Priests in the Priesthood of Jesus Christ – Every person is able to offer the sacrifices that God has specified – through them, expressions of praise and thanksgiving are properly given to God– both God and man receive benefit.
