What is Adverb? Adverb is a word that describe an action such us verb, adjective, and another adverb. Adverbs tells us about an action, or the way something done, usually adverbs modifies verbs, telling us how, how often, when, or where something was done.
Adverbs of Manner Adverbs of manner are used to tell us the way or how something is done and describe the time when something happens.
Exception : However, this is not the only way to form an adverbs. Many adverbs do not end in-ly Example : • I can undertand her explanation easily • She sang beautifully • I didn’t understand his speech. He spoke too fast • He is a good English teacher. He teaches well
Adverbs of Place Adverbs of Place tells us the place of action or action occurs/occured/will occur. Example : • They will come here • I saw her there • she works in Jakarta
Adverbs of Time Example : • I will call you tomorrow • Mira came soon • He is working now
Adverbs of Frequency Adverbs of Frequency explains “how often” something happens. Example : • He sometimes comes here • I usually have cereal for breakfast
Adverbs of Degree An action to the intensity or degree or another adverb. Adverbs of degree are usually placed before the adjective, adverb, and verb. Example : • The coffee is very hot. ( adjective: hot) • I am walking too slowly. (adverbs: slowly) • I enough understand about this subject. (verb: understand)
