Roles of the National Institute of Health • Serves as national reference laboratories for clinical diagnoses and epidemiological studies of infectious and non-infectious diseases • Conducts and co-ordinates research projects for prophylaxis and therapy of infectious and non-infectious diseases or syndromes of national importance and for public welfare
Research facilities for infectious diseases Facilities and equipment: biosafety cabinets, autoclaves. CO2 incubators, microscopes (including scanning and transmission election microscopes), PCR machines, DNA sequencers, FACS machines, beta counters and biosafety level-3 containment laboratories for in vitro and in vivo experiments
