What is the purpose of this workshop? • To advise you on how to help your child with their reading at home and strategies you can use. • To inform you of how reading is taught at CCPS. • To give you information on how reading is assessed at CCPS. • To give you recommendations about what your child should read. • To give you resources to support you and your child with identifying SPAG in reading books.

  4. Why is reading SO important? “Evidence suggests that children who read for enjoyment every day not only perform better in reading tests than those who don’t, but also develop a broader vocabulary, increased general knowledge and a better understanding of other cultures. In fact, reading for pleasure is more likely to determine whether a child does well at school than their social or economic background.”
