  1. BALWOIS 2010 - Ohrid, Republic of Macedonia - 25, 29 May 2010 Modeling of quality prediction for hops (Humulus lupulus L.) in relation to meteorological variables • Pavlovic, V.et al.

  2. Business chain in a hop industry Trade with hops Beer production Hop production Beer consumption

  3. Austria H Maribor Slovenj Gradec Ptuj Velenje Celje Italy Croatia Experimental data Source: ARSO

  4. Model of quality prediction for hops (meteorological variables anylsed) Impacts on alpha-acid contents in hops were studied in relation to: - length of sunshine (requirements 15 h/d) - rainfall (over 600 mm of rainfall) - air temperature (1700oC of effective temp.)

  5. Average values of bitter substances (alpha-acids) in Slovenian hop varieties Content of alpha-acids (%)

  6. Predicted and calculated contents of α-acids for the “VIRTUAL”1993-2009

  8. Predicted /derived and measured average contents of α-acids for hop varieties EBC 2000, 7.4.

  9. 1) Model prediction of alpha-acid contents for hops can be made 4-6 weeks before a hop harvest ( VIRTUAL variable + coefficients for 3 hop varieties and 3 production regions).2) Preliminary assessment of @-acid contents in hops will be used for its sale strategy (contract prices of hops are variable /linked to @-acid contents).3) Drought management contribution for hop industry sector (water stress effects on a plant level will be reduced ). Researchresults
