  4. Why I want to be a Teacher • I grew up with my mother being a middle school teacher. The opportunity arouse to me taking a program through JATC and I decided that Teacher Education sounded good and worth trying. While taking the course and experiencing the hands on work, I decided that I was meant to be a teacher. I love the feeling that I am helping a student grow. Also throughout the last year I have came to the conclusion that I want to do something that I love and enjoy for my life, rather than something that will make a lot of money but I will hate doing everyday. Who would enjoy hating going to work everyday?

Steps to Becoming a Teacher • In order to receive a teaching certificate and become a teacher in Utah, you must have a bachelor's degree and completed an approved program in acceptable subject matter areas. You may view these requirements, along with the subject areas on the USOE website. If you do not meet these requirements, you may wish to enroll in an online education degree program to help you meet the educational requirements for becoming a teacher in Utah.

  6. Requirements for a Utah Teaching Certificate Include: • Completed Teacher Application • Bachelor's Degree in Education • Verification of Educator Experience • Fingerprint Background Check • Passing score on the PRAXIS II test

  7. Salary • According to the report, the average beginning monthly salary for a teacher with a bachelor's degree is $2,759.75, and teacher salaries in Utah fall between $30,000 to $50,000 per year.

I Teach What’s Your Super Power • Teaching is a profession that isn’t very difficult to acquire. • Teaching is a profession that not everyone can do. • If people never try because of the fear of failure they will never know if they are meant to be a teacher. • The better the teachers are the better the students will perform and grow. • I teach, what’s your super power. Not all super powers grow and improve the community.
