What is Dauphin Island Sea Lab? • When your in 5th grade at South Shades Crest Elementary School you take a field trip to Dauphin Island Sea Lab. • It is a place were you can go and learn about the see and salt water marshes and the different kinds of animals that live there. • You also learn about why they are important. • You can also go to the estuarium and learn about the history and animals that live in the mobile bay. • You can also go to the touch lab and feel real dead animals that live there.

  3. What is the touch lab and what do you do • The touch lab is were one of the instructors talks to you about all of the different kinds of animals live in the mobile bay and in the salt water marshes . • After they talk to you they let you feel some of the different kinds of animals that live in the bay and marshes. • Then when you are done touching all the animals then you get to dissect a squid. • Don’t worry all animals being touched and dissected are of course dead

What is a salt water marsh? • The salt water marsh is the messiest part about Dauphin Island. • When you do to the march you have to walk in a lot of mud and explore the animals and you can pick them up an touch then . • The animals that live in the marsh are fiddler crabs and snails . • It is very messy and it is a lot of fun and remember to bring old shoes that you can get wet and dirty.

  5. What Is Wading ? • Wading is when you take a big net and you walk with your partner in the water and you catch little fish. • And when you are wading you can take little nets and try to catch crabs and other things like small fish or any thing on the bottom like shells. • You will be amazed at the different animals that you will find and it is a lot of fun.

  6. What dorm do I stay in? • This is a frequently asked question and don’t worry Mrs. Davidson will tell you all about it and yes the boys and girls stay in totally different dorms you will have at least two showers on each floor. • When you get to dolphin island you will go to your dorm and get settled then you will meet Mrs. Davidson for lunch then you will go do your activities .

Were do we eat breakfast, lunch and dinner? when you get settled you go down to the cafeteria and that is were you eat breakfast lunch and dinner you have two choices of what you want to eat you can choose one and they also have dessert and you can only get an ice cream after you eat all your food. You can also choose what you want to drink you can choose from cokes to sweet tea.

  8. What is the Estuarium? • The estuarium is like a aquarium but it only has facts about the mobile bay and the different kinds of animals that live in the mobile bay .
