  2. * A new adjoint model was developed and applied to this problem of extremely complex and likely missing hydrocarbon chemistry that allowed optimization of all the reaction rate coefficients in a given kinetics scheme all at once or, as we also computed, for all chemistry involving C3 or higher hydrocarbons, • * and in a manner 100 times more efficient than optimization of individual rate coefficients could proceed. • * Unrealistic rate coefficients objective evidence that missing chemistry is likely important, both in laboratory measurements and in planetary atmospheres.
