  2. Essential ? • What were the effects of the Neolithic Revolution?

  3. Paleolithic Age Period up to around 10,000 B.C. Means “Old Stone Age” - people made simple stone tools Paleolithic peoples relied on hunting and gathering for obtaining food Hunting and gathering forced a nomadic lifestyle on Paleolithic people (they moved from place to place) People began to use fire because as they moved they migrated into colder climates

Neolithic Revolution Neolithic Age (8000 BC – 4000 BC) means “New Stone Age” Neolithic Revolution (Agricultural revolution) refers to the shift from hunting and gathering to the use of systematic agriculture (farming) because of farming people began to settle into small villages (permanent settlements) food surpluses encouraged trade and specialization of labor (artisans, etc…) as villages grew into cities, civilization began to emerge 6 elements of civilization: 1) cities 2) government 3) Religion 4) social structure 5) writing 6) art

  5. Paleolithic Web • Draw and fill in a Web Diagram of the characteristics of the Paleolithic Age on the back of your newspaper template. Paleolithic Age

Neolithic Newspaper Article (pp. 14-16) • Imagine you are a newspaper reporter living during the Neolithic Revolution, create a Newspaper Front Page describing the effects of the Neolithic Revolution. • Newspaper should include: • Make a name, date, and city for your paper. • A dramatic headline for your article • Headlines for other articles. • A picture…use colored pencils. • An article describing the Neolithic Revolution and the effects it is having on your world. Be sure to discuss what life was like before farming (in the Paleolithic Age).
