Station Model. 20 different weather observations may be plotted next to each station on a weather map. This information is expressed in symbols and called a station model. The symbols are always located in the same location.

  1. Station Model • 20 different weather observations may be plotted next to each station on a weather map. • This information is expressed in symbols and called a station model. • The symbols are always located in the same location.

  2. Highlighted portion represents % cloud cover. Cloud cover is shaded in clockwise. This example has 75% cloud cover.

  3. Highlighted portion represents temperature. Temperature is found at 11 o’clock. Units are understood.

  4. Highlighted portion represents dew point. Dew point is found at 8 o’clock. Units are understood

  5. Highlighted portion represents Sea level pressure. Pressure is found at 2 o’clock. Units are understood.

  6. Highlighted portion represents Present weather. Present weather is found at 9 o’clock. If there is no weather this section is left blank.

  7. Highlighted portion represents wind speed and direction. The wind barb points in the direction winds are coming from. These winds are from the SE.Wind speed bars are connected to the wind barb. Long bar=10kts short bar= 5 kts triangle=50kts The wind speed in this example is 15 knots. Wind direction Wind speed.

  8. Highlighted portion represents the city. The city is found at 3 o’clock. Hoover, AL
