  23. Context John 12: • (v.23-24) The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. • (v.32-33) Jesus says, As for me I must be lifted up from the earth, I will draw all people to Myself. John 13: • (v. 22) “I assure you: One of you will betray me.” • (v. 38) “I assure you: A rooster will not cry until you have denied me three times.”

  25. “Jesus’ physical departure the disciples will provide a greater power and presence of god they had never experience before.”

  26. “Trust in God, trust also in me.” - John 14:1 • He establishes UNITY with God • He establishes ONENESS with God • He establishes EXCLUSIVE to God

  27. “I am going away, but it is to prepare a place for you. Not only will I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and receive you to myself so that where I am you may be also. Thomas says, Lord, we don’t know where you are going. How can we know the way? - John 14:3-5

  29. The way to the cross • The Perfect Sacrifice • The Substitutionary atonement for sin • The Resurrection to new life • The Ascended Advocate and Mediator • The Son seated at the righthand of the Father.

  30. “If you know Me, you will also know My Father. From now on, you do know Him and have seen Him. Have I been among you all this time without your knowing Me, Philip? The one who has seen Me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me? The words I speak to you I do not speak on My own. The Father who lives in Me does His works. Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me. Otherwise, believe because of the works themselves.” - John 14:7-11

  32. Who is the holy spirit • The Holy Spirit is not a force or a power or an influence, the Holy Spirit is a person: • The Holy Spirit is called “another” Advocate (greek word “Paraclete”). The original Paraclete is Christ Himself  • The Holy Spirit is referred to in a pronoun as “Him”; Not an it. • The Holy Spirit and Jesus are co-equal • The Holy Spirit is a continuation of Jesus’ ministry on earth

Ministry of the holy spirit • The Holy Spirit Indwells believers • The Holy Spirit Empowers believers • The Holy Spirit Fills believers • The Holy Spirit Gifted believers • The Holy Spirit Convicts believers • The Holy Spirit Regenerates believers • The Holy Spirit Sanctifies believers • The Holy Spirit Seals believers • The Holy Spirit Produces fruits in the believer: • The Holy Spirit Bears witness to the believer as Children of God
