  1. Child Maintenance- Dealing with a Child Post Divorce The rising divorce rates are greatly affecting the children and they suffer from emotional and psychological problems. Child care and control should be taken so that the child does not undergo much stress and their future remains secured. Children are very precious, innocent, and transparent and open to life. Their attachment to their parents decides their quality of life. But the turning point comes when divorce comes in between the parents. The innocent victims of divorce are the children. They are highly affected by their parent’s split. The process of divorce is itself a traumatic one and when a child is involved it becomes more complicated because there are several clauses and agreements to be signed before the final decree. The custody of the child becomes another issue for both the parents. It becomes very difficult for a single parent to take care of the child both financially and individually. Generally, most persons are on the view that child custody always goes to the mother but it is not totally true as the court always put its concern to the child’s best interest. Child custody laws ensure that children continue to receive adequate care from their parents, despite the changes that divorce brings to the family. Email Us: consult@gjclaw.com.sg

  2. Child care and control is one of the most important elements of successful parenting and parents need to learn more effective way of disciplining their children. If not dealt with care and love, it may result in emotional and behavioural risk of the child. The right care for the child is one of the most important decisions made by the parents. Child care and control centres are set up which takes care of the child when the parents are unable to do that whether due to income purpose or due to separation cases. If child maintenance is not done properly and carefully it may make the child out of control which will result in downward cycle of self- destruction behaviour. Some teenage children who undergo the separation of their parents are sometimes prone to depression and suffer from hopelessness, tearfulness, thoughts of death and suicide. Child maintenance in this case should be taken care of very seriously. Talking with the child, supporting him/her and if needed doctor consultation is to be made. One of the steps taken by parents for child care and control is punishment which is a mistake. Children are a beautiful gift of God. Maintenance of child and taking care of it is a tedious task for a single parent especially after separation but dealing with love and care instead of anger will surely give the child a beautiful and bright future.
