Real-time quantitative PCR mRNA expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) was determined using the ABI Prism 7700 sequence detection system (Applied Biosystems, Foster City, CA, USA). The change in the expression was calculated by standardizing RNA levels corrected for glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase expression in the sample.
