  2. What is scientific notation? Scientific notation or standard notation is an extremely useful and convenient way of writing very small and very large numbers. Using scientific notation not only saves time; it is also extremely helpful in a calculation that is too big or too small for a calculator to handle

  3. What is scientific notation? A number expressed in scientific notation consists of two parts:

  4. Scientific notation for numbers greater than 1 A number greater than or equal to 10 written in scientific notation will have a positive power of 10. Example Express 346 in scientific notation

  5. Scientific notation for numbers greater than 1 Express 5 638 000 in scientific notation

  6. Scientific notation for numbers less than 1 When a number less than 1 is written in scientific notation, the power of 10 will be negative. Example Express 0.0068 in scientific notation

  7. Scientific notation for numbers less than 1 Express 0.000 000 79 in scientific notation
