ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS FOR NATO APPOINTMENTS FACTORS • The SLP requirements for NATO posts are set without expert scrutiny. • STANAG 6001 is not non-specialist user- friendly. • SLP Level 5 is redundant. • Achieving SLP Levels 3 and 4 is not easy. NATO UNCLASSIFIED
ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS FOR NATO APPOINTMENTS LANGUAGE NEEDS ANALYSIS OF CE POSTS • All posts at Level 1 required less language ability than requested by the JD. • 70% of the JDs requiring SLPs in the Level 2 range were considered ‘high’ • The majority of JDs for posts required Level 3 SLPs. Only 42% of these SLPs were considered appropriate. • Only 51% of the profiles at 4343 were considered to have tasks at that leve.l • Only 1% of the JDs had SLPs of 4444. 75% of these were considered appropriate.
