The obesity paradoxREVISITED In univariable analysis, higher BMI was an independent predictor of survival, with a 4% reduction in the risk of death with every increase of 1 BMI unit (95% CI=0.94-0.99, p=0.002). However, greater BMI was not significantly associated with 1-year mortality once age was added to the model. Thus, the apparent obesity paradox in HF represents an association that is unlikely to be causal
