  1. Becoming a U.S. citizen

    Anyone born in the United States or a territory it controls is a citizen.
  2. A citizens most VITAL DUTY Taking part in elections. You will vote on who will lead the government.
  3. What if you were born in a foreign country If at least one of your parents is a U.S. citizen, then you are a U.S. citizen.
  4. Naturalized Citizens If neither of your parents are citizens and they move to the United States they must become Naturalized Citizens. EVEN AS A NATURALIZED CITIZENTS THEY CANNOT Become President or Vice President.
  5. Deport To deport is to return to the country from which you came. This applies to Immigrants that break the law.
  6. Legal Immigrants Legal Immigrants over the age of 18 may request Naturalization after living in the U.S. for 5 years. Cannot vote Cannot hold public office
  7. What do immigrants have to do 1. They must support themselves financially. 2. They must be law abiding and support the U.S. constitution. 3. Must understand and written and spoken English 4. Must show basic knowledge of U.S. history and government. They then will get a certificate of Naturalization.

  15. Volunteering in the Community Small communities have Volunteer Fire protection and law enforcement. Neighborhoods have Citizens on Patrol and Neighborhood watch.
