  7. Lyric Poetry Thunderstorm, Long ago I sat there gazing the heavens above stood blazing When my thoughts were disturbed, the skies looked perturbed The dazzling dagger piercing, shortly the blare followed The heavens endured though divided, the tears of the dark sky’s deluge The public scampered for refuge, run and cover from the deluge The sky splits again this time forever. 8. Lyric Poem Analysis Thunderstorm, Long ago I sat there gazing the heavens above stood blazing When my thoughts were disturbed, the skies looked perturbed The dazzling dagger piercing, shortly the blare followed The heavens endured even if divided, the tears of the dark sky’s deluge The public scampered for refuge, run and cover from the deluge The sky splits again this time forever. Internal Rhyme Alliteration Assonance This poem is a descriptive piece about the booming thunderstorms and a beautiful story. Inspired by Edgar Allen Poe’s ‘The Raven’ this poem is something everyone can relate to. A thunderstorm booming a hideous wave of sound, scurrying toward safety. 7

  11. Narratives The man awoke to a sickening smoke Immediately he began to choke His gaze flitted ‘round, to find his bride If she still lived, she’d gone to hide He stumbled forth into the blaze He tumbled into a flaming daze Though the flames impeded his way He refused to perish today He burst from the flame His head hung in shame For the endless inferno Had shown all to Reno His wife hadn’t come out Even though he shout He cried to himself As his house fell in on itself. 10

  12. Free Verse A poem by Andrew Garver There I walk through yonder passage, I glace for thee, you look not for me, There I tread distressing for you seem not to discern the way I fell, I rest there but you don’t see my heart reach out for you, You don’t know just how I feel, nor how I long for you. I’ve been observing from afar, just to tame my aching heart, And now we speak, for fleeting moments but all that arrives is pain, I admire, I adore, I desire, I crush, I endear, I feel, I love, All for you I fear, no one else makes me smile, there’s no one else for wish I long. You make me smile, when I see you, You make me beam, when you see me, You make me laugh, you make me love, Just to tame my aching heart. 11
