  2. the preacher's responsibility 2Tim 4:1-8 • TERMS USED IN THE TEXT: • Evangelist: one who announces good tidings (Gospel) Eph 4:11; 2Tim 4:5; Acts 21:8 • Preacher: crier, proclaimer, herald 2Tim 1:11; 2Pet 2:5; Rom 10:14 • Minister: deacon, laborer, ministrant Rom 15:16; Luke 1:2 • The way "minister is used most in Scripture it could refer to any member of the church

  3. the preacher's responsibility 2Tim 4:1-8 • QUALIFICATIONS OF PREACHER (Evangelist) • Pure and exemplary life 1Tim 5:22; 4:12 • Diligence and consecration to his work 2Tim 2:15-16 • Gentle, apt to teach, forbearing 2Tim 2:22-26 • Steadfast in the faith, loyal and uncompromising in teaching the truth, courageous in exposing false teachers 1Tim 6:3-11; 4:1; 2Tim 3:14-17; 2Tim 4:1-5 • Desire to save souls - his own and others 1Tim 4:16

  4. the preacher's responsibility 2Tim 4:1-8 • NEGATIVE SIDE OF PREACHER'S WORK • Not his work to administer affairs of the church 1Tim 5:17; 1Pet 5:1-5 • Not his work to do ALL the visiting of the sick and negligent Gal 6:1; Jas 1:27 • Not his work to entertain members and make regular social calls to imitate or compete with denominational "pastors" • Not his work to serve as a representative of the church in community or denominational projects

They determine if it isTRUTH (Acts 17:11)and obey it or reject it
