This week's lessons focus on solving equations with variables on both sides, including the Distributive Property and test preparation. Join the Service Learning project meeting on Thursday for an additional opportunity. Review solving strategies and test your skills at different stations. Earn points and improve your grade based on your performance. Let's excel in equation solving together!

This week Monday: I CAN review distribution and solve equations with variables on both sides Tuesday: I CAN solve equations with variables on both sides Wednesday: I CAN review solving equations Thursday: I CAN do well on the equation exam Friday: I CAN graph linear inequalities Homework #13: pg 152 #16-23
Service Learning!!!!!!!!!!!! If you are interested in a service learning project with me and Mr. Chrischilles there will be a meeting on… THURSDAY MARCH 11 @ 3:30 in room 215
Today: Objective: I CAN solve equations with variables on both sides Homework #13: pg 152 #16-23
Let’s review how to solve equations with variables on both sides • Get all the variables to one side • Get all the numbers to the other • Solve for the variable
Example #1: Solve for b Math Explanation 1. Original Equation 2. Subtract 6x from both sides 3. Add 21 to both sides 4.Divide both sides by 2 5. Solution
Example #2 Period 7: Solve for m Math Explanation 1. Original Equation 2. Combine like terms 3. Add 3y to both sides 4. Add 2 to both sides 5. Divide both sides by 5
Example #2: Solve for m Math Explanation 1. Original Equation 2. Combine like terms 3. subtract 2m to both sides 4. Statement is FALSE When you reach a false statement, there is NO SOLUTION
No solution set This can be written as: “the empty set”
Example #3: Solve for m Math Explanation 1. Original Equation 2. Distributive property 3. Add 8a to both sides 4. Statement is ALWAYS TRUE When the statement is always true, the solution is all real numbers (every possible number)
Let’s review how to solve equations with variables on both sides • Get all the variables to one side • Get all the numbers to the other • Solve for the variable
Stations Rules 3 problems @ each station One with distribution (1 point) One with Variables on both sides (2 points) One challenge problem (3 points) Your grade for the day is as follows: 65 (D): less than 5 points C(75): 6-7 points B (85): 8-9 points A(95): 9-12 points A+(100): 13-18 points A++(125): 19-24 points
