LPG - An Important Commodity LPG or Liquefied Petroleum Gas is a non-renewable form of energy that is extensively used in homes, cars, and in many chemicals industries, acting as a replacement for diesel generators and power stations. LPG is made up of butane and propane. It was developed by Dr. Walter in 1910.LPG is manufactured at the time of the extraction or refining of crude oil. One of the biggest uses of LPG is for cooking. In many households Liquefied Petroleum Gas, or LPG, is an indispensable component where natural gas is not available. It can be mixed with air to make it a substitute for natural gas as it has a very high calorific value. It is also a cheaper and it costs less than oil per liter about 50% cheaper than petrol. Some benefits of LPG: LPG is safer than diesel or petrol in vehicles due to stronger tanks Clean emissions and environmentally friendlier to use in public areas LPG is portable Hence liquefied petroleum gas is a versatile form of energy that can be used for many applications. Due to a lot of benefits many investors believe that the fuel oil commodity will be beneficial in nearby future. As oil prices rise, it usually causes other commodities such as lpg and natural gas to rise as well, generally at a lesser rate than oil. Investors can now buy, sell and virtually trade in lpg commodity just like any other stock or equities.
