  1. Top 5 Mistakes that Online Tutors Make with their E-mail List becomeanonlinetutor.com/2018/02/05/top-5-mistakes-online-tutors-make-e-mail-list/ February 5, 2018 You created a website, check. Added a video to your home page, check. Created a freebie and an opt-in so that you can stay connected with people that visit your website, check. The next thing to tackle is what to write in those e-mails so that people can get to know you and you can get to know them. This is the tricky part. E-mail marketing only works if you know what to write in each of the e- mails AND you use it. Today I thought I would share with you the top 5 mistakes that online tutors make with their e- mail list. 1. Never e-mail their list. Some people get the e-mail autoresponder set up to send a freebie, but then they never e-mail their list again. This is a mistake because this is a way to stay connected with people that have already raised their hand and showed an interest in what you have to offer. 2. Only E-mail when they have a new blog post. If tutors e-mailed their list only when they had a new blog post, they wouldn’t be communicating that often with their list. Some tutors only blog once every 3 months. 1/4

  2. If you are blogging weekly and it is being sent out to your list, then this is not a bad attempt at staying in contact with them, but you will want to think about some ways that you can engage with your e-mail list. Ask them to tell you about what they notice their child is struggling with the most. Tell them what inspired you to be an online tutor. Invite them to join you on a Facebook Live call. There are many opportunities to reach out and keep them curious about hiring you. 3. Buy E-mails from a list. Buying e-mails from a list is the worst way to get people on an e-mail list. Open rates are next to zero, and they do not work. You want to stick with permission marketing and get people’s permission to enter their inbox. Don’t be slimy on the internet; it will not help you to build trust. Trust is what will motivate people to hire you. 4. Don’t use an autoresponder. Once you start getting students and become booked solid, it becomes harder to stay on top of e-mailing people as soon as they request your freebie. An autoresponder will not only send the potential client the freebie right away, but it will also allow you to send dripped out messages over a certain amount of time so that you stay in contact with them. 5. Don’t send the freebie People will get mad and start off not trusting you if you do not deliver what you said that you would deliver. Most people expect to be on your e-mail list and get e-mails, but if you forget to send that freebie, you will not be starting off that relationship very well from the start. E-mail Marketing: How do people do it? 2/4

  3. I know that you want people e-mailing you in your inbox requesting your services. Did you know that most online tutors that start an e-mail list never actually e-mail the people that have opted in? It is true. They fear that if they e-mail too often, then people will opt out. Others have no idea what to write, so they get it set up and then they never return to it again. Let’s think about the number of people that you lose as clients when you never start e-mail marketing. People come to your website, they are not ready to hire, and they leave your website. Does this mean that they will never be in a spot when they are ready to hire you? No!!! What do you do? You collect their e-mail by giving them a freebie. This is an exchange. You come up with a freebie that is good enough to make your ideal client download it and then you can stay in contact with them over time. After you send this incredible freebie, you will want to introduce yourself and tell your ideal client what they can expect from you in the future. This gives them the ability to opt-out if they ever choose to. What do you write in these e-mails and how often should you be e-mailing them? All of this information is going to be covered in a brand new course, and you are going to get to experience it with me. If you are interested in learning more about this course and tackling what to write, when to write, and how to get people to take action, then sign up to stay informed. https://ultimatesupportprogram.mykajabi.com/p/what-to-write-in-my-e-mails 3/4
