4. PSED - How can you help? You can help by encouraging your child to use the toilet independently, wash their hands, put on and fasten their coats. Playing games which encourage sharing and turn taking will help your child to build their social skills.

15. Home Reading Children will be taught phonics on a daily basis. As their knowledge of phonemes increases they will then work towards blending sounds in preparation for reading and writing words. Children will bring reading books home each day and a reading record for you to write down any comments. Please do as much sharing of books as possible as it really does make such a difference.

16. General Information School day 8:55-3:15 Doors open at 8:45am Breakfast club is 8:00am and ARC is available from 3:15-5:30pm after school. Lunch is 12:00-1:00pm

A Typical Reception Day Children are encouraged register themselves Throughout the morning children participate in a combination of adult-guided and independent activities accessed through continuous provision. They have a daily session of phonics. Snack is available throughout the day and we do have specific times when children are offered snack and milk or water. Assessments and observations are carried out continually and these are recorded in our class ‘Floor book’ and in individual ‘Learning Journeys’. This ensures your child is making progress, indentifies ‘Next Steps’ and informs planning.

18. Uniform Reminder Uniform and bags need to be clearly labeled with names please! Lots of things like to go for a walk when we are getting changed! Please ensure PE kits are in everyday so we always have a change of clothes. If you have a spare pair of wellies please bring them so your child can wear them outside no matter the conditions.
