Your perception is your reality • We see the world through various lens • Some lens we wear are negative and should be changed The Lenses We Use
We repeatedly play tapes in our head with negative messages • These tapes color our perception of reality Negative Tapes We Play Example: Message: “You are not smart.” Perception of School: School is hard.
Change negative messages to positive ones • These tapes will color our perception of reality as well Positive Tapes We Should Play Example: Message: “You are a good student.” Perception of School: School is challenging but doable.
Draw the T-chart below in your notes. Then change the negative messages into positive ones. Changing Messages Negative Messages Positive Messages “I should just give up.” “I’ll try one more problem.” “I can’t do this.” “I’m never going to get it.” “No one likes me.” “I am not smart.”
