Second Follow-up • Call • About a week to 10 days later or when they said they would make a decision. • Let them know you are still interested. • Don’t say, “Have you made a decision?” Instead, ask about the status of the position.
Other Do’s and Don’ts • Don’t chew gum. • Do alert your references. • Don’t stop job hunting, even if confident. • Do be patient. The interview process often takes longer than expected.
Telephone Interviews • Prepare as you would for any other interview. • Practice over the phone—ask for feedback. • Find your location and organize your papers/notepad/pen. • Eliminate distractions. • Smile—keep a mirror nearby. • Have a glass of water handy.
