The teacher responsibilities necessary for a successful JA BizTown student visit. The operation of the on-site JA BizTown simulation. Teacher Training Objectives

JA BizTownStudent Goals Upon completion of the JA BizTown program, students will be able to: • Demonstrate a basic understanding of the free enterprise system. • Build money management skills through a practical knowledge of economic concepts and banking practices. • Develop an understanding of basic business practices and responsibilities. • Demonstrate the soft skills necessary for their successful participation in the world of work. • Discuss the roles they, as citizens, play in their community as workers and consumers, and relate these personal roles to the free enterprise system. • Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of nonprofit organizations in our communities. • Discuss the importance of citizen rights and responsibilities in a community.

  6. JA BizTown Benefits To Educators The lessons, written by JA Worldwide, are easy to use. Minimal lesson preparation time is needed because of efficient activity organization throughout the Curriculum Guide. The program content has been aligned with national and statewide academic content standards in social studies (economics), mathematics, language arts, and career development. Enhanced Learning Opportunities, that allow teachers to provide optional, complementary activities to the core curriculum, are provided. The curriculum consists of fun, interactive, engaging content that gets students excited about learning.

  38. Sample Business Letter Option: Incorporate technology by having the students visit the JA BizTown blog http://jabiztowncharlotte.blogspot.com/ Where they can write/blog a letter as well as read other letters kids have blogged on the website.

Don’t forget... • Please either fax your JA BizTown Prep paperwork to 704-563-4864 or bring it in with you the day of your JA BizTown visit with the completely filled out JA BizPrep packets. • Remember to have the student citizens fill out their checkbooks to match the example in the prep packets that you received with the curriculum. • Please let your volunteers know that parking is not validated.
