Definition of Terms • Hydrologyis the science of water that is concerned with the origin, circulation, distribution, and properties of waters of the earth. Watershed management-- 1
Definition of Terms • Watershedis a topographically delineated area that is drained by a stream system, that is the total land area above some point on a stream or river water drains past that point. Watershed management-- 1
Definition of Terms • Watershed :an area of land within which all waters flow to a single river system. • River basin: is similarly defined as watershed but is of a larger scale. For example, the Mississippi River Basin and Amazon River Basin. Watershed management-- 1
Definition of Terms • Watershed managementis the process of guiding and organizing land and other resource use on a watershed to provide goods and services without affecting adversely soil and water resources. Watershed management-- 1
Definition of Terms • Watershed management practicesare those changes in land use, vegetative cover, and other nonstructural and structural actions that are taken on a watershed to achieve watershed management objectives. Watershed management-- 1
