Conflict in the Church I. People do not Have to Be Identical to be Christians. A. Twelve Apostles (Luke 6:12-16). 1. Fisherman (Luke 5:1-11). 2. Tax Collector (Luke 5:27-32). 3. A Zealot. 4. Some Judeans, some Galileans. B. In Christ the Different Become One (Eph. 4:11-16; 1 Cor. 12:12-14).
Conflict in the Church II. Conflicts Will Occur. A. Analogy with marriage. B. There is difficulty in functioning together (1 Cor. 12:15-21; 22-27). C. We must understand that conflict must be dealt with (John 17:20-23). D. Some conflicts are necessary (2 Tim. 4:1-5; 3:1-5).
Conflict in the Church III. Resolve Conflict with the Word & Not the Will. • The only thing between people should be the word of God. • The word of God is impartial. • We must not “love strife” (Prov. 17:19). • Word’s power (Heb. 4:12-13). • “Bond of peace” (Eph. 4:1-6).
