  2. History • Limosine is one of the 27 regions of france. Limousin’s name came from the Lemovices who were a Gallic tribe. The area was ruled by Around the middle ages limousinbecame very well known for its poetry. In the 12th century a war broke out between French and English kings. They both fought for the rich land of Limousin during the Hundred Years' War (1337-1453). France won the war and gained limousin. In 1790 limousinwas divided among the present-day departments of Corrèze, Creuse, and Haute-Vienne.

  3. Location and Culture Limousin is bordered by the regions centre to the north, Poitou-charentes and Aquitaine to the west, Midi Pyrenees to the south and Auvergne to the east.Limousin is very big on tradition music. The old instruments like the bag pipe and the hurdy-gurdy are still popular.

Departments of Limousin • The Region of Limousin is formed from three departments, Correze, Creuse and Haute Vienne. The village of Treignacis in the southern part of Limousin, in the department of the Corrèze. the landscape around the medieval town are lush and typically Limousin. The village is officially classified as one of France's most beautiful.Collonges la Rouge  is another village in correze that is considered one of the most beautiful. It is very green and pretty. It has plenty of beautiful gardens and pretty old churches. • The village Bourganeuf is located in the department creusse. It was once the headquarters for the templar nights. Bourgane is made up of mostly country side.MagnacBourg is located in Haute Vienne. The village has distinctive cream colored stone buildings and slate roofs. The village has many apple orchards surrounding it.

  5. Things to do Limousin is full of many old churches and other buildings. It also has a very pretty country side. You could visit St Etienne. St etienne is a cathedral completed in 1890. The cathedral is beautiful and even holds the tombs of some admirable bishops. Next to the cathedral in the Jardins de l'Evêch is the old archbishops' palace that is now the Musée Municipal. The elegant 18th-century building has an outstanding collection of Limoges enamels from the 12th century, as well as some enamel paintings by Leonard limousin, who was born in 1505 in Limoges and went on to win world acclaim and the favor of four monarchs.  You could also hike and take walks. There are many possibilities in limousin.

  7. Celebration There are many celebrations in limousin. There are always traditional village celebrations, eminent festivals, visiting local companies, sports events, concerts, food fairs and even international events.

  8. Food in Limousin Food in Limousin is based on beef, lamb and pork meat. Some of the outstanding specialitiesin limousin are Creuse nut cake, chestnutboudin (blood sausage) andGaletou (salted pancake with ham and cheese), prunes and mushrooms, etc.
