Florida Region The Southeast Regional Fellowship Anti-Racism Pro-Reconciliation Ministry supplied notebooks and some pencils to the children at the Iglesia Discípulos de Cristo Back to School Celebration in Palm Bay, FL. The youth have started a campaign to have an anti-racism camp.
Illinois-Wisconsin Region The Illinois-Wisconsin Region toured Underground Railroad sites culminating in this visit to the Robbins History Museum. South Carolina Region South Carolina Region has established the True Community Regional Reconciliation Team. True Community has led several initiatives in venues including our Regional Board, Clergy and Mates Retreat and an “Assembly Fellowship Day.”
Northern California-Nevada Region Lodi United Congregational Church blessing their new community garden on April 22, 2010, thanks to a regional Reconciliation Grant. (The garden is known as the Garden of EDEN: Everyone Deserves Enough Nourishment.)
Northern California-Nevada Region Northern California-Nevada also awards an annual MLK scholarship with their reconciliation funds to a college student who exhibits a commitment to living out Dr. King's legacy. This year’s recipients were Daniel Fields and Robin Stiles.
Southwest Region T.R.U.T.H. Summit (Tearing Up Racism by Transforming Hearts) engaged 120 youth in a one-day camp event. Participants learned how to be a reconciler and how to challenge intolerance in the mist of peer pressure.
Disciples Volunteering Reconciliation Ministry participated in the Blitz Build for 2nd CC in Galveston, TX repairing damage caused by Hurricane Rita. Neighboring Central CC provided housing for the volunteers. At the grand re-opening both congregations committed to continued fellowship.
Mid-America Region Mid-America cyclists John Yonker and Sondra Bowers raised over $6000 for the Reconciliation Ministry by riding their bikes from Columbia, Missouri to Indianapolis, IN. Karen Yount drove the Support and Gear vehicle. The money was given for youth camp scholarships.
