XAM Top Issues Joint Airfield Operations Advisory Council • Background: Group formed to help standardize AM & ATC procedures with an emphasis on contingency ops • Current Status: Initiatives include: Standardize contingency airfield criteria (working with service civil engineering POCs), investigate joint training opportunities and standardize contingency ATC procedures • Way Ahead: XAM/XAR working meeting tasker on contingency airfield lighting Joint Tactical Radio System Waiver • Background: AM equipment UTC providing specially equipped vehicle and equipment to support airfield management at austere airfields • Current Status: • DoD requires a waiver to purchase legacy radio systems…waiver package currently at SAF/AQIZ for coordination • Way Ahead: XR has FY05 funding to procure radios once waiver is complete

XAM – Top Issues • Interim Change #2 to AFI 13-213…driven by changes to duty titles • Draft under development…must be published by 15 Oct 05 • AFJMAN 11-213 Re-write…first round coordination complete • USN rescinded…XAM pursuing consolidation into AFI 13-213 to provide AF specific guidance/responsibilities…will rescind 11-213 upon IC#2 publication • Re-write of AM Position Certification Guides…AM-03 and AM-04 through first round coord…expecting publication by end of Jul 05…AM-01 and AM-02 to follow • Updating aircraft anti-hijacking procedures (AFI 13-207) • Preparing draft for initial Air Staff 4-ltr, MAJCOM 3-ltr coord • Developing AM Contingency Skills CBT…final draft at XAM for review • Preparing final Air Staff coord on statement of work template for contract AM operations…MAJCOM coord complete • Provide unit with standardized, sound starting point
