Background Industries . . . • Are moving forward defining interoperability solutions in XML • Want to preserve EDI investment where it makes sense • Want to define new interoperability needs using XML • Don’t want a separate XML for their industry as they understand it limits interoperability across their trading partners • Several have chosen OAGIS as the horizontal platform for their vertical work
Short History • February 1995 – OAGI Incorporated • Architecture Developed, White Paper Published, Proof of Concept Event • February 1996 - First release of OAGIS • February 1998 - First XML shipped, OAGIS Release 6 • January 2001 – RNIF Support • June 2001 – Automotive Retail Project • July 2001 – ebXML Support • October 2001 – XML Schema Ships • December 2001 – HR-XML Adoption of OAGIS, Web Services Support announced • January 2002 – Auto Industry Adoption of OAGIS • March 2002 – Next Gen XML Schema Delivered
OAGI Activities • Interoperability Activities • Test Bed • Demonstrations/Interop Tests • Development Activities • OAGIS • Out-Reach Activities • Vertical and Industry Groups
Technology Strategy The technical architecture of the Open Applications Group is intended to be technology sensitive . . . but not technology specific.
OAGIS is Process Definitions and Payloads • Collaboration is process definition • Business Object Documents are messages within the Collaboration
