Goals • The Cary Academy Speech and Debate Team believes that communication skills are essential for empowering youth to become engaged citizens, skilled professionals, and honorable leaders in our global society. • The Cary Academy Speech and Debate Team strives to connect, support, and inspire a diverse community of students who are committed to fostering professional and personal growth through competitive speech and debate activities. • The Cary Academy Speech and Debate Team serves the community by giving voice to the voiceless.

DIVERSE COMPETITION EVENTS PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH A WIDE RANGE OF OPPORTUNITIES Debate Events Speech Events Lincoln Douglas Debate Public Forum Debate Student Congress Declamation Program and Oral Interpretation of Literature Extemporaneous Speaking Dramatic, Humorous, & Duo Interpretation Original Oratory Informative Speaking

  5. PROGRAM Participation requirements • Students must attend a minimum of five tournaments • Families must commit to judging at two tournaments • Fees to cover the costs of travel and lodging

  6. respecting YOUR POCKET • $575.00 Out of State Overnight Travel • 100.00- 150.00 Additional Fees for Overnight Locals • $50.00 Local Tournament Drop Fee • $100.00 Local Tournament Drop Fee for Team Events • Forfeiture National Tournament Drop Fee • Unknown Additional Expenses Incurred

Rule #1 –bE A GOOD PERSON • Early is On Time, On Time is Late, and Late is Unacceptable • We compete as individuals, but we fight for the team • Meal time is time to talk to one another, not to text others • We leave business at work • We work at winning the day • We trust the process • We take responsibility for our own actions
