  6. Semester grades • All daily grades, quizzes and test grades will be recorded as numbers in the grade book. Six weeks and semester grades will also be averaged and recorded on the report card numerically.Example: 80% 20%

  7. High school credits • High school credits for students in grades 9-12 are awarded on a semester by semester basis. If a student fails the first semester full-year course and passes the second semester, the two semester grades will be averaged to determine whether the student has earned a passing grade for the year.*Example: 65 (1st semester) + 75 (2nd semester) = 70 avg. Credit will be awarded for both semesters. * Only for the 4 core areas and foreign language

High school credits Cont’d • However, if a student passes the first semester of a full-year course, but fails the second semester, the second semester grade cannot be averaged, and the student must repeat the second semester of the course for the four core classes and foreign language only.Example: 80 (1st semester) + 60 (2nd semester) = 70 Avg Second semester credit will not be awarded. Student must repeat the second semester course through Online Courses/Night School Outside LCISD or Summer School.

The advanced placement (ap) program • The AP Program offers college-level instruction to the academically successful student while in high school with the option of taking an Advanced Placement examination to possibly qualify for college credit. AP students are expected to work at an accelerated pace and to engage in outside reading and independent learning. The curriculum of AP courses is determined by College Board and focuses on preparing the student to take the Advanced Placement examination for that course. • While AP courses are open to any student who wishes to take on the additional challenge of this advanced curriculum, students who choose to enroll should be prepared for the additional rigor of the course. AP and AP/GT courses concentrate on providing students with rigorous college level instruction while preparing students for the AP exams. • Students are responsible for checking and ensuring that the college they are planning to attend will award credit for AP examination scores.

  18. rank Class rank • Class Rank is based on the cumulative grade point average for grades 9-12. • A student’s GPA is derived by dividing the total number of grade points by the number of semester courses attempted. • Rank comes from the registrar’s office. • Transcripts, including GPA and Rank will be distributed through Advisory on Monday, February 7th.

Feb. – Mar. Counselors review student course requests and credits. Late Spring Students receive course verifications in the mail.
