Leeds University Research Findings • Carers knowledge of telecare and its types is low • Carers have access to a limited range of telecare equipment • Carers pay different amounts for similar services (post code lottery) • Carers appreciate direct contact with telecare lead officers and call handlers • Carers are confident in the equipment reliability and emergency contact • Carers feel faster referrals to telecare services would benefit different types of conditions such as dementia • Carers even with Telecare in place continue to need other support services (joined up work) • Telecare not a panacea
