MISSION • To put Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at the center of Grenada’s social and economic development as a dynamic industry sector in itself, and in support of the development of other sectors of the economy • To establish a knowledge-based society as the platform on which to foster, accelerate and sustain long-term social, cultural and economic development

  4. STRATEGY • Government Strategic Intent: • Create an enabling environment to attract local and foreign investors through appropriate polices, legislation and improved public sector efficiency • To enable affordable access to global information to all citizens including disadvantaged persons

ICT for Grenada -Education & Training • Fulfillment of matriculation requirements to enable basic IT literacy • Supplying marketable skills and competence • Continual updating of IT competence in response to market demand • Increasing chances of employability of the unemployed, and providing digital literacy for the employed • TAMCC to spearhead development together with Universities abroad as well as on-line teaching to achieve target of professional training at the professional level • Government to support all ICT inclusions as part of modernization process • Government will support the private sector efforts to develop ICT competence in the labour force • Government will support education and training programs, and target development of skilled IT workers Life Long Learning IT Literacy in Schools Vocational Training Pre-Literacy Infrastructure Backbone Tertiary Education Modernizing Education Process Teaching & Training in Workplace Skill Targets

  21. 2002/2003 Objectives • Design and Implementation of National Backbone • Establish the Central Information Management Agency • Digitizing of Government records • Establishment of the Government Web-Site • Commencement of work leading to Government portal • Implement E-Mail services within the Government using an Intranet • Commencement of Legal work • Training of Public servants in utilization of computer tools, other e-government requirements and protocols
