  1. E f h QCD Triggers Andrew Brandt, U. Texas at Arlington Trigger Workshop April 10, 2003 Fermilab

  2. Keepers JT_45TT, JT_65TT medium ET will NOT be changed Zero_bias_GAP* monitors will NOT be changed JT_25TT_NG low ET will NOT be changed, but can get bandwidth somewhat reduced to accommodate new triggers if necessary JT_95TT will NOT be changed before summer…

  3. JT_95TT Main unprescaled High ET, single jet trigger CJT(4,5) L2JET(1,30) L3JET(1,95) 40E30: L1=52 Hz L2= 39 Hz L3=0.22 Recent L2 change increased L2rej from 1.06 to 1.33 Expansion to ||<3.2 increased L1 from 44 to 52 Hz but did not increase rate to tape* 60E30: L2=59 Hz; 80E30: L2=78 Hz Would like to add new version with CJT(3,5) and higher L2: CJT(3,5) L1=156 Hz, L2=?, Keep current version through summer shutdown (exact L2 threshold still needs study) *In general L1 increased by 20%, but L3 by 0-10% for all QCD triggers, must understand

  4. JT_125TT Backup trigger (complete subset of JT_95TT) just in case super high luminosity happens CJT(4,7) L3JET(1,125) 40E30 L1=11Hz L2= 11 Hz L3=0.04 CJT(7) may disappear. Ideally would change to CJT(3,5), but need to verify that L2(60?) is okay. Could go to CJT(4,5). Needs study. QCD group not interested in CJT_OR, problem is controlling L2, not L1 efficiency in middle of cross section

  5. QCD Special Run-Low ET Studied new minbias+L3 jet monitor triggers (Tamsin Edwards, Pavel Demine) http://www-clued0.fnal.gov/~demine/special_run_analysis_20030409.pdf At first glance jets look suspect, so more study needed. Also looked at CJT(2,3) L3JET(1,15) has ~same L1 rate as JT_8TT (CJT(1,5), but 4x lower L3 rate, will provide good stable lower ET trigger for physics and for measuring efficiency. Request addition of JT_15TT: CJT(2,3) L3JET(1,15) (0.5 Hz at 20E30, 0.2 Hz at 40E30)

  6. QCD Low ET Turn-on Curves http://www-hep.uta.edu/QCD/jet_turnon.pdf (Greg Davis) JT_45TT seems to turn on around 70 GeV, why so late? Needs more study Ultra-prelimary plots from special run show turn on of JT_25TT_NG around 35, why so early? Why 70%? Why don’t we re-bin this plot? Clearly JT_15TT will be useful addition, other plots show that jets are healthy for this trigger

  7. QCD Special Run-Gap Currently JT_25TT_GAPN,S,SN Ex.: CJT(2,5) L3JET(1,25) GAPN 40E30 pre=2 L1=3 L2=3 L3=0.6 CJT(2,5) L3JET(1,45) GAPN gives x5 rejection at L3 allows addition of CJT(2,3) L3JET(1,15) x9 higher L1 x4 higher L3 (than 25 trigger) 40E30 CJT(2,3) L3JET(1,15) Pre=14 L1/L2=4.3 L3=0.34 CJT(2,5) L3JET(1,45) Pre=1 L1/L2=6 L3=0.24 60E30 CJT(2,5) L3JET(1,45) Pre=1 L1/L2=9 L3=0.36 Request addition of JT_15TT_GAPN,S,SN: CJT(2,3) L3J(1,15)+GAP Request modification of JT_25TT_GAPN,S,SN: L3J(25)->L3J(45) (L3 bandwidth unchanged, few more Hz of L2)

  8. QCD Summary Need L2 studies on CJT(3,5) trigger for setting thresholds for JT_95TT and JT_125TT, plan to add duplicate of JT_95TT and replace JT_125TT (not a big hurry) Continue study of Minbias+L3 triggers At some point might add L3 vertex tool Add JT_15TT with CJT(2,3) Change current gap triggers from 25 to 45, add low ET gap triggers (CJT(2,3) L3J(1,15)+GAP) FPD triggers still in future
