  6. Your Course • Please place the Course Outlines in your binders and keep them for the rest of the semester. • We will refer to them from time to time. • Share this information with your parents.

  7. Information Sheets: Please fill out sheet 1 of the information sheets. These will be kept in my personal files in an effort to understand and communicate with you better. It will be kept confidential. MSIP Information An MSIP paper is being passed around. Please fill your name in under the period in which you have your MSIP. This can be used for group work purposes when it comes to projects, peer-tutoring, etc. More Papers!

Classroom Procedures • Bellwork: • This is the first thing you are supposed to read upon entering the classroom. • You are expected to start the Bellwork assignment immediately, NOT AFTER the bell rings. • Sometimes it is assessed or evaluated. • Please organize a Bellwork section in your binder. • Please also direct your attention to the left front of the classroom, to the sign that says, “Classroom Procedures”:

LATES If you arrive after I have closed the door, then you will be considered late. • 3 lates in 1 month will earn you a detention. • 6 lates in 1 month will earn you 2 detentions plus a referral to Mr. Perry. • 9+ detentions in 1 month will earn you a call home (if you are under 18), 3 detentions, another meeting with Mr. Perry, and loss of classroom privileges.

  11. LEAVING THE CLASSROOM(washroom, water, lockers, office, etc) • You will have 1 freebee a week to get forgotten materials from your locker. • Please sign yourself out when you leave the room and sign in when you return, using the “Leaving the Classroom Sign-Out duo-tang”situated beside the door. • You may not leave the classroom during the first 15 minutes and last 15 minutes of class.

  12. Assemblies and Events: Please always come to class before an assembly or event for attendance. Extra-curricular Activities If you must miss or leave class for this, then please do the following first: Give me prior confirmation from the teacher in charge, and I will confirm with him/her. REMIND ME of your early dismissal or absence before class starts! ASSEMBLIES, EVENTS, AND EXTRA-CURRICULAR.

  13. Teacher-Student-Parental Communication (under 18) • Sunshine Calls! I will occasionally send nice messages home to your parents to let them how great you are doing! • Other Calls! I will occasionally call home if I am concerned as well. • Consistent Communication! You will receive consistent feedback from me as well. I do not intend to surprise you by my calls home.

  14. Assessment: You will be consistently assessed through class work and participation, activities, assignments, MSIP assignments and homework. You will be consistently updated on your progress. Assessment is almost daily and is more important to your final mark than final evaluations are! Evaluation: Tests, assignments, final products, projects, reading, writing and speaking. You cannot pass the course by only working for the evaluations! Assessment counts for approx. 70% of the course, and the other 30% is left for evaluation. Assessment and Evaluation
