  2. The ACS • Green Chemistry Institute • Catalyzing the movement of the chemical enterprise toward sustainability through the adoption of green chemistry principles.

  3. Chemical and Engineering News • C&EN Online is a weeklymagazine published by theAmerican Chemical Society.It is available free to all members. If you would like to become a member of ACS, you can apply online at the ACS website: chemistry.org.

  4. ACS Scholars Program • A CATALYST for AfricanAmerican, Hispanic/Latinoand American Indian studentsseeking to pursue under-graduate college degreesin chemical sciences and chemical technology.

  5. ACS Committee on Minority Affairs • Oversees American Chemical Society programs devoted or related to minority issues. • Studies and make recommendations on the current status of minorities in the ACS and in the chemical sciences. • Promotes and recognizes the professional accomplishments of minorities in the chemical sciences. • Increases the interest of minority chemical professionals in the work of the Society.

  6. Women Chemists Committee • Serves the membership of theAmerican Chemical Society.Our mission is to be leadersin attracting, developing andpromoting women in the chemical sciences.

  7. Younger ChemistsCommittee • North Jersey ACS YoungerChemists Committee organizes events that provide graduate students, post-doctoral chemists, and young professionals with the opportunities to interact with other chemists in the section, to help them better direct their careers, and to increase their involvement in the ACS.

  10. High School - Project SEED • Project SEED is designed to encourage economically disadvantaged high school students to pursue career opportunitiesin the chemical sciences.Direction for Project SEED isprovided by the ACS Committeeon Project SEED.

North Jersey Section Careers in Transition • Review Resumes - attendees should bring their resume on a transparency so that we can provide immediate feedback. • Develop Personal Marketing Strategies - developing good answers to questions that have a high probability of being asked on a job interview. • Discuss how to find a position.

  12. Chemagination • is a creative innovation andwriting contest for high schoolscience students conducted by the American Chemical Society (ACS) and written with the National Science Education Standards in mind.

  13. Teacher Affiliates • The Teacher Affiliates Group is a group of high school teachers form North Jersey who are affiliated members of the section. Dues are $15 per year. All members of the group receive the INDICATOR monthly and are entitled to attend all sectional functions. We welcome new Affiliates.

  14. North Jersey Section Education Committee • Oversees educational activities and awards in the section. The Committee specifically administers the Edward J. Merrill Award for High School chemistry teachers and cooperates in the dissemination of information and the recommendation of nominees for other regional and national awards.

  15. Metro Women Chemists Committee • Strengthens the contribution of women in the chemical sciences in the NY-NJ area. • Serves early and midcareer scientists through programming and invites graduate and undergraduate students to participate.

  16. Kids & Chemistry • Was developed by the AmericanChemical Society to give scientiststhe resources and training necessaryto share hands-on science withschool children in grades 3 to 6.
