An opportunity currently exists for an Environmental Studies student to join the Operations Support team at the AJB Distribution Centre. The Operations Support Department has the responsibility of facilitating the investigation and implementation of tactical process improvement projects within the D.C. This is an exciting role because it incorporates all functional areas of distribution: receiving, storage and inventory management, picking/filling orders, and shipping, as well as parts of the planning and scheduling of all of these areas. • RESPONSIBILITIES: • Examine the current internal supply chain processes in all areas of the D.C. and identifying areas for improvement • Support EHS Objectives EG: PDA’s and JSA’s for key production roles. • Facilitate in the development of trend analysis and reporting of Work Place incident reports • Work along side out EHS team to examine internal compliance protocols concerning MOL and MOE guidelines. • Perform cost-benefit analysis of several alternatives to determine the best one, and implement changes to the methods employees use to perform their jobs, role and accountability changes, and/or operational procedure changes. BUSINESS ANALYST Supply Chain – Operations Support Brampton, Ontario – Summer 2009 Co-op Opportunity • RESPONSIBILITIES – Continued: • Interact with all levels of distribution staff to understand and map current processes, analyze information flow, and propose process improvements using our LEAN / 6S methodology. • Work with analysts and frontline management to examine process flows and identify root causes and propose fixes. • On occasion you will be asked to prepare ad-hoc analyses, reporting and complete special assignments. • REQUIREMENTS: • Working towards a degree in Business / Environmental Studies or equivalent program. • Ability to analyze a process to find bottlenecks and other potential areas of improvement • Ability to handle multiple projects within tight deadlines • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability and confidence to interact with various levels of distribution staff • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) • Knowledge of process mapping software such as VISIO • Ability to be self motivated and work well with minimal supervision • Strong Microsoft office skills • ADDITIONAL ASSETS: • Familiarity with MSDS & WHIMIS compliance procedures • Database skills using MS Access, VB/VB.net skills, C/C+ programming. • Knowledge of warehouse processes (receiving, storage, shipping, etc.) • Project Management experience • THIS TERM WILL OFFER YOU … • Experience and knowledge of the structure, environment, and operations of a large and profitable corporation; • Opportunity to exercise analytical, communication, presentation, and problem solving skills; • Knowledge of the operations and processes involved in a warehouse environment; • Practical experience in planning, organization, investigation, data collection and analysis; • An opportunity to demonstrate skills and aptitudes to a potential full-time employer; • Experience how to work within a team based environment.
