EMPIRE MD PETS 2019 Service Project - Meal Packing for the Food Banks
Good afternoon all. I think most of you know that I was at multi-district president-elect training (MD PETS) this week on Friday and Saturday. On Friday at 12:45 we gathered and started packing meals in plastic pouches for people in need at the food banks of Rochester, Syracuse, Binghamton and Albany. Below is Governor Elect Randy Wilson’s printed results of what we accomplished. It was pretty impressive. Charlie Hi Charlie, Thanks for your help at the Friday meal packing project! Here are the results: 24,270 meal servings in 4,045 pouches. So 6,067 meal servings to each of the 4 central food banks in Rochester, Syracuse, Binghamton and Albany. 75 volunteers completed the packaging project in 2 hours 45 minutes. $0.29 cost per meal, to help food insecure people and families in each of our four Rotary Districts. Yours in Rotary Service, William R. "Randy" Wilson District 7150 Governor 2019-2020
Good Rotary Service Projects Require: • Meeting a need today! • Creativity! • Sustainability! • Risk Taking! • New Ideas! • Keeping prior projects only if viable today!
Service Project - Points to Consider... • Can a Rotary club do anything to help? • If so, what can Rotarians do “hands on” to help? • How much funding is required? Fundraising? • How can the project be designed? What is needed? • Will the project generate good publicity for the club? • Can the members be “sold” on the project? • Is this a one-year project or a continuing project? • What other community resources are available or what other organizations should be involved? • What steps are necessary to move forward?
Please Remember... “Service Above Self” Questions, Comments, etc.???
