Updates on the installation progress of various components at different sectors of the LHC, including cryo-magnet installation, power converters, interconnections, and rack installations.

Sector 1-2 • LSS1R • Installation of low-β suspended, installation of stand-alone in progress (D2, Q6 in place) • TAN in place, cabling of detectors done (BRAN, LHCf) except for ATLAS Roman Pots • RR17: Power Converters in place, AC and DC cabling in progress, one DQR in place with cooling pump station (Roese) • PM18 • Pressure tests of QULC and QUI done • Arc 1-2 • Jack installation and jumper preparation finished • Cryo-magnet transport in progress (44 MB and 18 SSS in place) • TI2 • Preparation for magnet installation (new line painting this week, support inst. follows) • LSS2L • UA23: Power Converters and water-cooled cables in place, AC and DC cabling in progress; Instalation of kicker pulse generators in progress • RA23: QRLX extension to DFBAC in place • US25 • EL general services (finitions) and CV in progress Sylvain Weisz - LEMIC

Sector 2-3 & Point 3 • LSS2R • Low-β in place, interconnection in stand by (no interference with ALICE bake-out) • Transport of stand-alone in progress (D2, Q4 in place) • UA27: Power Converters, DQR and water-cooled cables in place; installation of DQS in progress • Arc 2-3 • Cryo-magnet installation in progress (141 MB and 53 SSS in place - MEB allocation of remaining magnets completed Wk 4) • Half-arc (S/s E to I) aligned, interconnection in progress • LSS3L/R • DSLC installation on-going, but accumulating delays … • Design and integration of DSLC bridge at UP33-Tunnel junction still need to be finalised • Warm magnets installed in all available slots (8 MBW and 19 MQW in place) • DQR and DQS in place, installation of water-cooled cable delayed in 3R • DFBAF in place Sylvain Weisz - LEMIC
Sector 3-4 & Point 4 • Arc 3-4 • Interconnection in progress (global advancement ~50%) • All cold elements in place (MB, SSS, CC & DFB’s) • Rack installation: 198/209 QPS racks and 24/24 PO racks (60 A) in place • RE38: water leaks still there, drain and pump will be installed • Handling accidents occurred when transporting the DFBAG and a warm MQW damages not critical, but could have been much more important, worrying… • LSS4L/R • All cold elements in place, interconnect in progress (Q6-DFBMG done on both sides) • All beam position monitors installed • Ion profile monitors and wire scanners will be installed at a later stage (equipped with permanent individual bake-out system) • Vacuum pipe installation in progress • Bake-out of sub-sectors D5.R4 and E5.R4 (between D3 and D4) in progress Sylvain Weisz - LEMIC
Sector 4-5 • Arc 4-5 • Interconnect in progress, 8 sub-sectors (out of 14) under vacuum: expect to close arc cryostat week 9 • Rack installation: all QPS, PO and beam inst. racks in place – cryo inst. still missing • LSS5L • All cold elements in place and interconnected (except DFBLD, expected CW7) • Beam-pipe installation in progress • Low-β reparation: production of new HX tubes starts this week, material at CERN by 16/02: expect to repair low-β in 5L by early April, ready for cool-down of sector 4-5 • TOTEM cabling and piping done, but more cables are expected … C. Sector 6-7 & Point 7 • LSS6R: • All MSD’s in place • UA67: short-circuit tests in progress • Arc 6-7: • 154 MB and 51 SSS in place (Q11.R6, Q10.L7 and Q7.L7 expected in March) • Rack installation: 208/209 QPS racks and 24/24 PO racks (60 A) in place • Alignment in progress (1/2 arc done) • Interconnect starts CW7 • LSS7L/R • RR73 & UJ76: ready for short circuit tests, wait for access at Point 7 • Warm magnets: 7 MBW and 24 MQW in place (He ring line non conformity prevents installation of the last MBW) • TZ76 gallery: modification of ventilation system and installation of collimators control racks at stand-still, resumes when access at Point 7 is authorised Sylvain Weisz - LEMIC

Sector 8-1 • LSS8R • Cold part: all elements (magnet & DFBs) in place and interconnected • Warm part: • Vacuum: bake-out in progress • Individual system tests: MKI tested (need second period), injection magnets on-going • Arc 8-1 • Interconnections in progress: low priority, expect to close arc cryostat in March • Rack installation: all QPS, PO and beam inst. racks in place, 59/80 cryo inst. racks in place • LSS1L • DFBLA in place (1st DFBL installed) • Vacuum : bake-out in progress • Cabling of exp. detectors and installation test of BRAN/LHCf into the TAN done Sylvain Weisz - LEMIC

Summary • Cool-down of Sector 7-8 started mid-January, so far so good … • Interconnection on-going in 5 sectors: • Start of sector 6-7 mid-February • Closure of sector 4-5 end of February • 16 DFBM (70%), 8 DFBA (50%) and 1DFBL (20%) in place (4 DFBM available but not installed due to delays on DSLC or corresponding S4) • Rate of warm beam-pipe installation is ramping up: • Procurement and installation planning consolidated • Coordination with individual system tests is tight • 1561 cryo-magnets in place (90%) • Critical issues: • DSLC at Point 3: installation delays, incomplete design • LOW-β: HX repair scenario and planning consolidated by mid-February • Logistics of late elements: need to postpone installation in UJ22 and PX24 Sylvain Weisz - LEMIC
