Islam 101 • 5 Pillars • Kalema, Namaz, Zakat, Roza, Hajj • 6 Articles • Belief in One God ( Allah) • Belief in Angels • Belief in all Books of God • Belief in all his prophets • Belief in day of resurrection & Day of Judgement • Belief in decree of God (Fate/destiny) • Islam is the religion of peace and comes through the lineage of Prophet Abraham. • Muslim – is a person who accepts Islam. Accepting Islam means • Someone who affirms in the existence of One God - The Creator • Someone who affirms in the true teachings of all prophets in Quran, and accepts Muhammad (s) as the messenger of God • Someone who accepts Quran as the word of God and tries his utmost to abide by the 700+ commandments in it. • Someone who believes in the 5 Pillars of Islam – Shahada, Obligatory prayers, Financial sacrifice, Fasting, Hajj (pilgrimage) • Someone who believes in 6 articles of Faith -

  3. islam & ahmadiyyat • Islam has many sects (73+ )which differ in interpretation of Quran in many matters similar to Christianity. • It was prophesied by Muhammad (s) and in Quran (ch 62:v4) that a reformer would come 1400+ years later as a Messiah and prophet in the likings of Jesus. • Jews, Christians and all Muslim sects believe in the coming of this Messiah and awaiting arrival. Some believe he would physically descend from the sky as prophet Jesus. • Ahmadi Muslims believe in all tenets of Islam and also this prophesy of the Messiah. • A holy man named Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of India made that claim in 1889 and instituted this reformed sect. • Ahmadi Muslims follow the Quran and prophet Muhammad (s) to the letter, and accepts this Messiah as a commandment from prophet Muhammad (s)

Why islam expects a messiah • Purpose of the second coming of Jesus – The Messiah • The messiah (second coming of Jesus) is expected to be not the physical Jesus of Nazareth, but someone who’s missionwould be like mirror image of his. • To reform Faith of Islam and re establish the religion of Peace • To remove abrogation of faith and practice with true original teaching of Quran with dialogue and divine knowledge • To unite mankind under one prophet of God for lasting peace and harmony • To bring absolute justice with reasoning, love and dialogue • To END violence and bloodshed in the name of religion.

  5. What is unique about ahmadiyya sect • 3 MAJOR THEOLOGICAL DIFFERENCES • Most of the Muslims and all Christians believe that the Prophet Jesus had been ascended to heaven bodily. We believe he survived the crucifixion and died a natural death after completing his mission • While all OTHER sects of Islam are still awaiting for the Messiah , Ahmadi Muslims have recognized the claim of The Messiah who already appeared in 1889 with supporting divine signs ( which was documented). • Ahmadies believe that the door of future prophet hood is open as promised in Quran (ch 4:69). All other sects argue that no new prophet can come after Muhammad (s) implying Jesus’s prophet status would be taken away for his symbolic 2nd coming.

  6. message of the messiah • The message and divine revelation granted to the Messiah ( Mirza Ghulam Ahmed) was documented by him in 80+ books. • His fundamental message was to re-iterate the Quranic teachings and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (s) • With logic and reasoning, he documented the abrogation of Islamic practices and emphasized the true nature of Islam – which is to create a personal relationship with God without mediators. • His coming abolished the violence and practice of Jihad of sword which was prophesied in the sayings of Prophet Muhammad (s) • Establishment of Absolute Justice (Hakam and Adal) through reasoning and empirical & divine knowledge
