Institution:INSTITUTE OF MECHANICS-BULGARIAN ACADEMY OF SCEINCES Laboratory: MECHATRONIC SYSTEMS Service / Technology offer: Mechatronic handling devices for micro and nano operations. • Description:Piezo actuated robot for handling operations has been developed in a way to guarantee the precise reference three-dimensional motion and control for assembly and processing operations in sub-micrometer or nanometer range. The robot system with 7 active joints (4 translational and 3 rotational) is constructed by the integration of the piezo actuated nano robot developed, as a local robot structure, and micro robot as a regional robot structure, positioning the robot end-effector into the reference-working zone. • Characteristics: For regional structure: 3 translational joints with a range of 50 (100) mm, repeatability of less than 2 µm, linear sensor resolution of 0.1 µm. For local structure: 2 rotational joints around x- and y-axis are in a range of 100 arcsec with actuator resolution of 1.6 10-3 arcsec. The third is translational with a stroke of 65(8) µm and resolution of 1 (0,5)nm. Utilisation: Manipulation and processing operations in micro and submicron range such as assembly and handling of micro objects in cm-working space. Handling operations foreseen to be performed by such handling mechatronic systems generally comprises operations such as transportation, orientation, holding, etc. Another operation is a scratching of polymer surfaces with desired distance between the obtained furrows with predefined depth. • Exemple (of projects, processes, devices realised using it) • RoTe-MiNa Robot for cell micro and nano manipulations (NANOFAIR’03 St. Gallen Steinbeis Exposition Stuttgart); • Ro-MiNA Robot for assembly and processing micro & nano operations (2005, Ro-MiNa Project TH1308/03, Sofia ).
